FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can Carbona® Stain Devils® be used in the washing machine?

Stain Devils are not a pre-wash. For best results, you need to treat each stain completely, before laundering and drying.

  2. Can I use Carbona® Stain Devils® on carpeting?

Carbona® Stain Devils® have not been tested for use on carpeting. However, we have had many consumers use them on their carpeting with great success. Doing so is at your own discretion.

  3. Will the formula for ink remove permanent ink?

Permanent ink is permanent. Unfortunately, the stain is there forever.

  4. Why do I need to put a cloth under the stain?

Stains can spread while being treated, so you need somewhere for the stain to go when you remove it from the material you are treating.

  5. What if I can't put a cloth behind the stain or put the stained area in a bowl?

For best results we recommend that you follow the directions on the bottle. However, as a last resort, you may try dabbing the material with a white cloth soaked with the formula then pat dry. Repeating process as necessary until stain is gone.

  6. Why do I need to flush the stain with hot water after treating it with Carbona® Stain Devils®?

You need to rinse out the formula because if you let the stained area dry out without rinsing, the stain can reappear. The hotter the water, the faster the stain removal process.

  7. Will Carbona® Stain Devils® also remove the odor (like perspiration)?

Carbona® Stain Devils® are formulated for removing stains. Follow with regular laundering to remove odors.

Tips

Stain Removal Tips

  1. No two stains are the same. A coffee stain is different from a chocolate stain. A butter stain is different from an ice cream stain. Even though they’re both red, a pizza stain is very different from a stain made by red wine. So you can’t expect a single all-purpose stain remover or pre-wash to get all of them all the way out.

That’s why we created Carbona® Stain Devils® – 9 powerful formulas made to get out different types of stains. Stain Devils are safe and effective on washable and water-safe fabrics, excluding silk, acetate, carpeting, or upholstery. Every formula is dermatologically tested to be safe for your hands and environmentally friendly for disposal.

Look for the little yellow bottles of Carbona® Stain Devils® in the laundry section of your store. Visit the Store Locator to find the store nearest you.

  2. Use the formula that’s right for your stain. Follow the directions.

  3. Because Stain Devils are individually formulated, stain removal instructions may change from formula to formula. Follow the directions printed on the label of the bottle you are using.

  4. Some are instant, some aren’t. Be patient. While the appropriate Stain Devils formula should completely remove your stain, the time required may vary from immediately to several minutes or more.

  5. Combination stains. This can make stain removal a bit more complicated and may require more than one Stain Devils formula to remove it completely. But if you value your garment, it’s worth the extra time.

  6. DIRECTIONS

Spot remover for washable and dry clean only fabrics.

Just 3 easy steps to stain removal:

    1. Before treating, remove as much of the cause of the stain as possible.
    2. Do not dilute. Place an absorbent white cloth beneath stain. Apply solution directly to stain. Tap stain with your finger, pushing it onto the cloth beneath it.
    3. Rinse with warm water.
  7. FOR LARGE STAINS

In shallow bowl, immerse stained area in solution. Soak for 10-15 minutes. Gently rub fabric together and rinse with warm water. Repeat steps with fresh solution and longer soaking time, if necessary.

  8. DO NOT USE ON LEATHER, SUEDE, SILK, ACETATE, CARPETING OR UPHOLSTERY.

Before use, test for colorfastness on an inconspicuous area. Will not remove instant or super glue.

I love these products. Because they are specific, you don’t have to wash your clothes over and over again as you do with general purpose stain removers. I have never found any other product that can remove nail polish, Stain Devils#1, and yet leave the fabric undamaged. I use Stain Devils #2 for ketchup and chocolate on an almost daily basis. None of the general purpose ones is nearly as good.

Your products are a pleasure to use. Years ago I would literally panic when stains would appear on my family’s clothing – getting clothing replaced can be expensive – but discovering your stain removal products has brought a calmness and assuredness that I can remove these stains. I have a stain remover reputation now – friends and family call and ask for help. I refer to these little bottles as my arsenal of stain fighters. Thank you Delta Carbona and keep up the good fight against stains

I was on my way to church and got makeup (concealer ) on my WHITE shirt. I stopped by a grocery store and found Carbona #6 and a name brand. The “name brand” did nothing. This #6 took every bit right out of a pure white top and left no residue. So I could go on to church!!

I am a long time custome4 and fan of Stain Devils. The more and more I make use of these stain removers, the more I just love them.

In an age when so many products do not live up to their advertising claims, your Stain Devils products not only live up to, but far exceed them. I can’t begin totell you the number of clothing pieces that have been saved with your products. They are amazing and each type performs just perfectly for the types of stains they are listed for. I have used a number of the Stain Devils, but I always, always keep Stain Devils #1, 4 and 5 on hand. In fact, my son thinks I am the stain remover guru. I hate to lose my place on the pedestal he has placed me on, but I am going to have to come clean (no pun intended) and let him know my secret.
Keep up the great work! You have one satisfied customer here and I know my family and I will continue to be for years to come.

I am a surgeon who uses your product mainly for blood stains. I also use 2 others frequently fat and cooking oil and ice cream and crayon. Are there larger than 1.7 oz bottles that I can purchase ? I am paying 4 plus dollars for 1.7 oz now. Seems a little expensive for so little amount. Love the product and results. It’s a 5 star with a price break.

Title of Review: Red ink on white couch

I got a 1” line of red ink from a pen on a white cotton slipcover. Thought I’d never get it out. I worked the carbona into the stain really well as instructed and then soaked the fabric in detergent for a bit and all the ink came out. I love these stain removers and have most of them. They are life savers.

Title of Review: Can I add this a to wash cycle?

I love this product when using tlit as directed. That being said, I’m hoping someone could answer a quick question of mine… If I add this to a wash cycle will it cause any adverse effects? such as foaming up to the point of overflowing the washing or anything along those lines.

    Title of Review: Tar

My mother introduced Stain Devils to me before she passed a few years ago, though I didn’t have as great of an appreciation for them at the time. She had each one in her laundry collection but I gave them to my sister-in-law. This past week I wound up with two large tar stains on the back of my light colored jeans legs from fresh tar build up on the runners of my car. So hard to get off my car and I was afraid my jeans would need to be trashed. While searching the web if anything could help, I came across Carbona and remembered it was my mother’s favorite stain remover. It really works! It took a couple of treatments, but the stains are completely gone. Lesson: listen to your mother. heh
